5/24/2024 - Jaguars finish as State Runner Up.
BV West opened up the state tournament with an 8-5 victory over Maize. In the semi's, the Jags dug an early hole against SM East, but fought their way back to win in extra innings 7-6. Gabe Andrews hit the walk off RBI single to drive in Jaden Rose to end BVW back to the finals for the 3rd straight year. BVW squared off with Olathe South in the state championship game, but just ran out of gas falling 10-2 and finishing as state runner up. The Jaguars finish the season 24-6, state runner up, and set a school record for wins.
5/17/2024 - 2024 State Tournament - Jags earn #3 seed.
The 2024 state tournament bracket was released today. BV West enters the tourney as the #3 seed and will play the #6 seed - Maize Thursday, May 23rd at 5:45 @ Kansas University - Hogland Park.

5/15/2024 - Jaguars win 4th straight regional championship.
BV West hosted regionals on Wedensday night for the 4th straight year. In game 1, they defeated Olathe North 5-0 on the backs of Sam Dew (grand slam in the 6th inning) and Christian Ryan (complete game 1 hit shutout). In the regional chamionship game, the Jaguars beat Mill Valley, 8-0 thanks to Eli Lovich and Riley Rigdon's combined 1 hit shut out. The Jaguars will compete at the state tournament at KU next Thursday and attempt to win their 3rd straight state championship.
3/182024 - Jaguars home baseball field name after BV West Hall of Fame Coach, Bill McDonald
Monday evening was a special one. Moments before the game, BV West Hall of Fame baseball coach, Bill McDonald threw our the first the pitch of the first home game of the spring. Immediately following, the baseball program honored Coach Mac by re-naming their home field after the HOF coach. Coach Mac has won 6 state titles and over 600 games in his coaching career. Several of his players went on to play in college and handful of them were drafted. Coach Mac is one of the best to ever do it in Kansas and will forever be celebrated as those that take in a game at Mac Field will know his name. The Jags defeated Lee's Summit 6-1 and improved to 3-0 to start the season.

Back-to-Back State Champs!
We did it! The Jaguars are your 2023 Kansas 6A State Champions! They win back-to-back titles for the first time in school history. In the opening round of the state tourney, the Jags defeated Olathe North 7-1 behind the complete game performance of Austin Young. In the semifinals, BV West faced off against Lawrence Free State. Ari Shafton came in in relief throwing 5 innings of shutout baseball to earn the W. Sam Shelton drove in Jack Schneider in the 3rd inning with an RBI 3B to tie the game at 1. In the bottom of the 6th, Zach Darche hit his own 3B then scored immediatey after on a wild pitch. The Jags would go up 2-1 and Shafton would close the door in the 7th to send BV West to the championship game. In the finals, the Jags squared up against home town rivals, BV North which proved to be a classic match up. BV West tacked on 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to 3 consecutive hits by Darche, Donaldson, and Dew. Shelton drove in one run with a ground out, Lock drove in another with a successful squeeze play, and Sawyer drove in the 3rd run with a double down the LF line. Those 3 runs would be enough as the Jaguars would hold off a late charge by the Mustangs to win 3-2 securing back-to-back state championships for the first time in school history. Ari Shafton picked up the win in game 2 as well, pitching 4 shut out innings giving up just 1 hit. BV West finished the season 20-5 overall and the 2023 6A State Champions!

Jags win! C Team wins 2 at Desoto, 11-10 and 7-0. Huber/Parks/Weisguth combined for the win in G1. Tunnell/Kindler/Huber lead at the plate. In G2, Coltharp/Peters earned the win, with Johnson/Weisguth/Peters/Tunnell having multiple hits each. The Jags improve to 6-2 this spring.
Varsity shows some grit, comes up big in the 7th for walk off win against Olathe East.
Jags win!!! Down 6 runs, the Jags plate 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th to walk it off vs an outstanding Olathe East team. Final score BVW 12, OE 11. Dew picks up the win. Schneider drove in Kopmeyer for the game winner. Darche was 5-5, 3 RBI. Jags are 9-2 Overall (2-1 EKL).
C Team spilts with BVNW tonight.
C Team won game 1, 14-5 and lost game 2, 8-12. Weisguth and Noonan threw 2 scoreless innings each in game 1. Thomlinson, Kindler, and Parks lead the Jags at the plate tonight. The C Team is now 4-2 overall this spring. Great job men!

Jags drop their EKL matchup with BVNW today, 6-1. Young w/his first loss of the spring is now 2-1. O’Keefe went 1-3 w/sac fly RBI; Darche and Huffman both had a hit a piece. BVW is now 8-2 overall (2-1 EKL).

Jags win! Varsity 11, Leavenworth 2. Sawyer improves to 2-0 tossing 3 scoreless with 5Ks. Lovich tossed 3 scoreless as well w/6 Ks, while going 2-4 at the plate with a 3B and 2RBI. Thanks to everyone who came out to the 3rd annual TMF memorial game! BVW is 8-1 overall (2-0 EKL).
Branson Trip
The varsity left at 6:00 AM for Branson on Friday and rolled back into school at 10:00 PM. Didn’t play our best baseball, but salvaged the day with a split. Next up was go-carts, Pizza Ranch, arcade games, and some karaoke on the van ride home. Love this group of guys! - Jags split DH with Branson HS. Game 1-BVW 1, Branson 5. Shafton went the distance and took the loss. Game 2, the Jags bounced back to win 5-0. Hindes and Ryan combined to pitch the shutout. BVW is now 7-1 overall (2-0 EKL).

Barrett Donaldson will be headed to Barton County Community College, Austin Young will travel down to Baylor Universtiy, and Eli Lovich will take his talents to the University of Notre Dame - all to play baseball of course. Zache Darche will be headed to Penn Universtiy to play football in the Ivy League, while Jack Schneider will move just down the road to Lawrence play football for the Jayhawks. Their coaches and teammates congratulate these great players and wish them luck!

On Septmeber 14th, Jaguar Baseball Alumni, Collin Wiles ('12) made his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics. Collin helped lead BV West to its 2nd state champinship in 2013 and is a member of the BV West Hall of Fame. Congratiuations to Collin and his family!

Bryce Hanson went 6 2/3 with Gabe Krafft-Jarombek closing out the last out. Jackson Lovich had a day at the plate, going 4-4 with 2 2B's, a 3B, and 6 RBI. The championship game was one for the ages. The #1 Jaguars squared off against #2 Manhattan. Tied 3-3 in the 5th, Jackson Lovich came in relief for Ari Shafton who went 5 strong Innings. Lovich bailed the Jags out of bases loaded jam, halting the Manhattan's rally. The game would stay tied at 3 going into the bottom of the 7th. Alex Villegas laced a single to left center. Lovich reached on an error and both would move up a base on a wild pitch. With a base open, the Indians would intentionally walk Zach Darche. Up to the plate steps senior, Kyle Jones who has been clutch in these situations all year. As fate would have it, Jones laces a single right back up the middle scoring Sage Huffman and the Jaguars are state champions for the first time since 2013!

Jaguar Players Represent BV West in Multiple All Star Games.
Following a successful spring season, a few Jaguar players were selecte to represent BVW in the Royals Urban Youth, KABC All State, and KC Metro all star games. On June 5th, seniors Jackson Lovich, Alex Villegas, and Bryce Hanson played for Team Kansas in KC Royals Metro All Star game at Urban Youth. June 8th, Jackson Lovich and Kyle Jones represented BVW at the KABC All State All Star game. Lovich was presented with his 6A Player of the Year award during the game. On June 21st, Junior, Austin Young played for team Kansas in the KC Metro All Star Game. These players all represented their BVW teammates and community proudly!
Jackson Lovich name 2022 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year
CHICAGO (June 3, 2022) — In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Jackson Lovich of Blue Valley West High School is the 2021-22 Gatorade Kansas Baseball Player of the Year. Lovich is the third Gatorade Kansas Baseball Player of the Year to be chosen from Blue Valley West High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Lovich as Kansas’ best high school baseball player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year award to be announced in June, Lovich joins an elite alumni association of state award-winners in 12 sports, including Derek Jeter (1991-92, Kalamazoo High School, Mich.), Jon Lester (2001-02, Bellarmine Preparatory School, Wash.), David Price (2003-04, Blackman High School, Tenn.), Clayton Kershaw (2005-06, Highland Park High School, Texas), Rick Porcello (2006-07, Seaton Hall Preparatory School, N.J.) and Kris Bryant (2009-10, Bonanza High School, Nev.).
2022 Regional Champions!
Wednesday night, BV West hosted regionals for the 2nd year in a row. Game 1, they defeated SM South 10-0 in 5 innings to move on to the regional championship game. Austin Young tossed a 2 hit shut out while the entire line up found their way on base and accross the plate. The reigonal championship then matched up the Jags with cross town rivals, Blue Valley HS. Things started out with a bang, as Jackson Lovich blasted a no doubt, 2 run bomb over the left field fence to put the Jags up 2-0 after 1 inning. The Tigers then tied things up in the top of the 3rd. BVW would jump back on top in the bottom half as Lovich lead of with a single and later scored on a RBI single by Kyle Jones. BV would tie the game at 3 in the top of the 4th. Then in the bottom of the 5th, Justin Dooley lead the inning off with a single, Jackosn Lovich walked, and then Zach Darche sent a laser to right center, driving in 2 runs and landing him on 3B with a triple. Sage Huffman came into to run for Darche and would score they very next at bat, as Kyle Jones drove in his 2nd run of the game with a hit to RF. Closer, Ari Shafton took care of the rest as he pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings to close door on BV and send the Jaguars back to state with their 2nd regional championship in as many years. BVW enters the state tournament at 20-2 and the #1 seed. The bracket will be released at a later date.
Jaguars finish regular season 18-2, earn #2 overall seed in East Regionals.
BVW earned the #2 overall seed and will host #15 SM South on Wednesday at 4:00. If the Jags win, they will play in the championship game at 6:00 vs the winner of the #7 Blue Valley/#10 Olathe East @ ANTDAC. All games will take place at BV West (ANTDAC).
BVW drops final game of the season, 12-5 to BVSW.
The Jags struggled early, falling behind 5-0 after 3 innings. As they have done all year, they battled back and made it a one run game, trailing 6-5 heading into the bottom of the 6th. Unfortunately for the Jags, BVSW tacked on 6 runs and closed the door in the top of the 7th. BVW finishes the season 18-2 overall and 6-1 in the EKL. They will enter regionals next week as the #2 overall seed and host their regional game at ANDTAC most likely on Tuesday.

Jags outl ast Saints on senior night winning 3-2 in 12 inning marathon game.
On a cold and wet night, the Jags and Saints both struggled offensively to get anything going. Then in the bottom of the 12th, BVW finally found some life. Jack Pearson lead of the inning with a walk prompting Sage Huffman to courtesy run for him. Sam Dew will follow with a base hit putting the winning run on 2nd base. 2 pitches later, Huffman will take off for 3rd and the Jags were successful in executing the double steal. Aquinas then intentionally walked Joseph Lock to load the bases. Then stepped in senior, Joey Nichols who had been victim off a couple line outs and hard luck in previous at bats. After fouling off a couple strikes, Joey hit a ground ball up the middle that the Aquinas SS dove and fielded, but did not have enough time get the throw home to get the speedy Huffman out. The walk off victory for the Jags was the 3rd walk off the season improving their overall record to 16-1 and their league record to a perfect 6-0. We want to thank our seniors for their hardwork and dedication!

Thursday, in round 1 action, BVW defeated Piper, 14-0. Nick Sawyer threw a complete game shut out while Kyle Jones blasted his first home run of the season. In the semi's, Austin Young lead the Jags to a 10-2 victory over SMNW going 6 strong on the mound striking out 9. The Jags then matched up with the Kansas 5A 5th ranked Hays Indians in the championship game at Legends field. After going down 3-0 early, BVW battled back in the 3rd inning with a RBI single by Joseph Lock followed by a clutch 2RBI double by Zach Darche. Then in the bottom of the 6th, Joey Nichols executed the squeeze to perfection, scoring Alex Villegas which would prove to be the winning run. Bryce Hanson and Ari Shafton combined on the mound to bring home the Championship for the Jags. Jackson Lovich, Austin Young, Kyle Jones, and Jack Pearson were all selected to the All Tourney Team.

Friday night, the Jags picked up their first loss of the season, losing to Olathe South, 3-2. Saturday, they scratched and clawed their way back into the win column, beating Blue Springs South, 7-6 in 9 innings. The Jaguars improve 9-1 overall, and 4-0 EKL.

3 Jaguars Sign Their National Letters of Intent.

Friday, January 17th was a great night for BV West baseball and 2 of it's alumi. Ryan Ralston and Collin Wiles were both inducted to the BV West Athletic Hall of Fame. A few of our current seniors caught up with Ryan after the cermony for a picture. Congrtulations to both Collin, Ryan, and their families!
12/17/2019 - Tis the season!
The Jaguars brought in over 100 brand new toys to donate to Children's Mercy Hospital this Christmas. BV West and the coaches are extremely proud of the players for their contributions!
11/14/2019 - Hudler and Lovich Sign National Letters of Intent.
Thursday afternoon was an exciting day at BV West HS. 10 senior athletes signed their national letters of intent to play their respective sports at their respective colleges. Seniors, Ross Lovich (Missouri) and Will Hudler (JCCC) represented the Jaguar baseball program. Their families, coaches, friends, and teammates are extremely proud of them and wish them luck next year!
6/7/2019 - Andrew Couse represents BV West at the 2019 KBCA All Star game.
Recent graduate, Andrew Couse, who was selected as a 1st team All-EKL and 1st Team All-State Outfielder, represented BV West and his teammates. The best seniors from across the state are selected to represent their schools in the KBCA all-start game. This summer the game was held at Kansas Univeristy.

After a solid 2019 spring season, several Jaguar players received EKL and All State. Senior OF, Andrew Couse was also selected to represent BVW in the 2019 KSHSAA All Star game. The game will take place on June 5th @ KU at 1:00.

5/7/2019 - BV West finishes off regular season with loss to BVSW.
With their 5th game in as many days, the Jags struggled to get in rythem. They fell behind 6-0 after 2 innings and just could not get their bats going. The Jaguars would go on to lose 6-1 to BVSW. BV West finished the season 12-8 overall and 4-4 in league play.
5/6/2019 - Jaguars earn split on senior night.
Due to the rainy weather, BV West was forced to reschedule senior night and pair it up with another make up game. So on Monday, the Jaguars took on SM West at 2:00, followed by Aquinas at 5:00. The Jaguars come out fast and crushed the Vikings 13-3. 45 mintues later, they took on Saints and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. the lead was short lived becasue in the 2nd inning the Jags gave up 8 runs to STA. BV West would settle in and chip away at the lead, finally evening things up at 8 in the 5th inning. The Saints tacked on the go ahead run in the top of the 7th and the Jags could not respond in the bottom half. The final score, BVW 8, STA 9. In between games, the coaches, teammates, and fans recognized our 10 outstanding seniors. Their hard work, leadership, and performance on and off the field has been outstanding. They will be greatly missed and we wish them nothing but the best in the future!
5/4/2019 - BV West takes on Blue Valley HS at the K.
With the sun finaly shining, 2 of 6A's top teams squared off at Kauhmann Stadium. The Jaguars scored 1 in the first after Chase Burgess singled and then was drove in by Cole Schreiber's double to RF. BV West would later add 2 more runs, though all they would need is the 1 run. Matt Ronnebaum held the Tigers scoreless hurling a complete game, 2 hit shutout. He did need a little help in the bottom of the 5th though. After a walk and a double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, BV's SS drove a hot down the RF line. While everyone in the stadium held their breath, senior RF Zech Williams left his feet to dive and make an outstadning catch. The Jaguars beat the Tigers for the 2nd time this spring, 3-0.
5/4/2019 - Sub Varsity Teams do well in weekend EKL tournaments
The annual sub varsity EKL tourneys took place this weekend. The D Team tourney was held at Blue Valley HS, the C Team tourney was held at BVNW, and the JV tourney was hoster by BV West. The Jaguar D Team finished in 2nd place losing to Aquinas in the championship game. The C Team won their pool and finished in 1st place. The JV lost a heartbreaker in the championship, losing by 1 run in extras to BVSW. All in all the sub varsity teams did an outstanding job in all 3 tourneys.
5/3/2019 - Jaguars big 2nd inning pushes them past Olathe North.
Friday night the Jaguars traveld to Olathe North after almost a whole week off due to rain outs. BV West put up a 7 spot in the 2nd inning and would cruise to an 8-3 victory over the Eagles.
4/26/2019 - BVW goes 1-2 over 3 game stretch.
On Tuesday, the Jags fell 4-2 to BVNW. They fell behind 2-0 early and then struggled to hit with runners in scoring position. On Thursday, Junior Connor Carson made his first start of the season picking up the W, 13 - 6 against Bishop Miege. Friday night, BV West battled ONW to 2-1 loss. The Jags out hit the Ravens 9 - 4, but once again could not hit with runners in scoring position.
4/17/2019 - Jaguars have rough Friday at RCF Tournament.
After a great Thursday in the River City Festival Tourney in Lawrence, the Jaguar's success would be short lived. In game 1, BVW struggled to miss Olathe West's bats as the Owls put up 11 runs in the 11 - 6 loss for Jagaurs. In game 2, BVW jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but then the wheels fell off. Walks, defensive misues, and poor at bats lead to an early exit 11-1 defeat.
4/16/2019 - Coach Allison earns career win #100.
On a sunny day in Lawrence, the #2 Jaguars took the field against #1 (5A) Shawnee Heights in the River City Festival tournament. Both teams played tight for 2 innings, but then in the 3rd the Jaguars put up 4 runs. Senior pitcher Matt Ronnebaum would cruise throwing a complete game and holding the T-Birds to just 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 10. BVW scratched accross 2 more runs in the 6th to make the final score 6-1. The victory marked Coach Allison's 100 win as a head coach (92 with Leavenworth and 9 with BV West).
4/15/2019 - Jaguars still at the top of the state polls.
Despite 2 recent losses, BV West remained ranked 2nd in the state, dropping 1 spot from #1 the week before. The KABC is the state coaches poll voted on soley by coaches in the state of Kansas.
4/12/2019 - BV West hits the road and drops 2 games in a row.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars headed to Mill Valley with a 7 game winning streak on the line. West took a 4-3 lead into the 5th inning, but walks ands some defensive miscues allowed Mill Valley to take a 6-4 lead. When it was all said and done, Mill Valley went on to win 9-4, giving the Jaguars their first loss of the season.
The Jaguars were back in action on Friday against SMNW. BV West put up for quick runs in the top of the 1st only to be matched when SMNW put of 4 in the bottom half. Both teams would tack on 1 more run through 5 and then SMNW would add the go ahead run in the 6th. With the bases loaded in the top of the 7th, the Jaguars shot themselves in the foot with a missed sign and some poor baserunning decisions. The final score would end up 6-5 in favor of SMNW. BV West fell to 7-2 (3-1) after the 2 tough losses.
4/3/2019 - Jaguars go on the road and shut out SM South, 4-0.
Junior Garrett Stoll took the mound for the Jaguars on Wednesday night and was dialed in. Stoll threw 5 scoreless innings just giving up 2 hits. Junior Thomas Burns finished up the last 2 innings, preserving the shut out. BV West is now 7-0 (3-0) on the season.
4/2/2019 - Varsity takes down BV North, 3-1.
The Jags battled through some adversity Tuesday night beat the Mustangs 3-1. Falling down early 1-0, BVW took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning when Cole Schreiber drove in 2 runs with a 2 RBI single. The Jags would add a 3rd run when Chase Burgess hustled out a ground ball to drive in Zech Williams. JJ Kim picked up the W on the mound for the Jags while Connor Carson earned his 2nd save of the season. BV West is now 6-0 (3-0) on the season.
3/28/2019 - Sub Varsity teams take the field this week.
Monday, the C Team took on St. James losing game 1, 10-9, and winning game 2, 9-5. Tuesday, the D Team swept Olathe East, winning 11-7 and 11-2. Wednesday night, the JV swept St. James on a windy night, winning 11-2 and 10-5. Overall, the teams combined for a 5-1 record and scored a combined 62 runs in 6 games.
3/26/2019 - Varsity extends winning streak to 5 games with 4-2 victory over St. James.
The Jags hit the road Tuesday to take on St. James. Senior Matt Ronnebaughm pitched 5 strong innings to ear the win and Junior Connor Carson picked up the save closing out the last 2 innings. Chase Burgess, Peyton Roy, and Zech Williams lead the Jaguars at the plate. BV West is now 5-0 (2-0) on the season.
3/23/2019 - Jaguars sweep South Dakota schools in weekend showcase in Lawrence.
On Friday, Senior Espon Donaldson and Junior JJ Kim combined to shutout the 2018 South Dakota State champs, Brandon Valley 7-0. Then on Saturday, BV West jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the 1st inning against Sioux Falls Washington, SD. The Jaguars would go on to win 16-1 in 4 innings. Juniors Garrot Stoll and Thomas Burns combined for the 1 run effort. The Jags are now 4-0 (1-0) on the young season and are back in action next week against Saint James and SM South,
3/21/2019 - BV West slow start overcome with explosive hitting in 17-7 win over SM North.
The Jaguars fell behind early 2-0 to an aggressive hitting SM North squad Thursday night. Then they woke their bats up and jumped out to a 12-2 lead after 4 innings of play. When it was all said and done the Jags plated 17 runs en route to the 17-7 victory over the Indians. Junior, Nick Nauser earned the Win for BVW, while senior Reece Umbarger closed out the game. Will Hudler, Ike Summerlin, and Zech Williams all came through with multiple hits in the game. BVW improves to 2-0, 1-0 on the season and head to Lawrence this weekend for a 2 game showcase against Brandon Valley, SD and Sioux Falls Washington, SD.
3/19/2019 - Jaguars open up the season with a 2-1 victory over defending state champs, Blue Valley HS.
With the stands packed and the first game of the season upon us, the Jaguars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. In the top of the 5th, the Tigers would even things up at 1 a piece when a lead off walk found its way home. The tie wouldn't last long when in the bottom of the 6th, junior catcher Andrew Pendergast blasted a double to left to get things going. Senior Andrew Couse then reached on a bunt single advancing the courtesy runner, senior Chase Kruetzer to third. Junior Steven Parker then drove in the Kruetzer, the go ahead run with a ground out to the shortstop. Junior Connor Carson then closed the door on the defending state champs in the top of the 7th. Leading the way at the plate was Will Hudler (1-3, SB), Ike Summerlin (1-3),. Andrew Pendergast (1-2, BB, 2B), Steven Parker (1-2,BB, RBI), and Andrew Couse (1-2, BB) The Jaguars (1-0,1-0) are back in action Thursday at home against SN North, 5:00 start.

12/14/2018 - Jaguar Players Collect Toys for 'Toys for Tots' Program.
On Friday, the BVW players met up with USMC Sgt. Garcia to donate just over 75 toys to the 'Toys for Tots' program. Sgt. Garcia took some time to tell a few stories about the children that benifit from these donated toys and the different circumstances these children go through during the holiday. He thanked the players for going above and beyond themselves and giving back to their community. It was a great day for our school and program.
